System for Modeling and Allocation of Securities Holdings (SMASH©)
One of the continuing challenges facing the securities industry is optimization of the segregation process for retail margin accounts. The traditional approach has relied upon sequential processing of margin account records. SMASH replaces this processing with a very sophisticated, non-linear gradient method of securities' allocation to generate the optimal solution.
Requirements of the segregation process and interpretations of the SEC regulations vary within the industry. Some companies have a greater or lesser number of delivery requirements with a different set of priorities, and in some companies delivering "hot stocks" has a higher priority than reducing the deficits. It is often desirable to have the flexibility in assigning daily priorities. SMASH's design allows for almost unlimited flexibility and targeting.
In actual implementation, SMASH has freed up tens of millions of dollars of securities for our clients, generating an additional 5% in profitability per year. It provides full regulatory compliance, remarkable reliability, and very significant reductions in CPU and elapsed run time.
The efficiency of both the optimization technique and matrix processing makes SMASH a very useful tool for the securities industry, especially in light of the constant need to reduce the processing time window, such as the move to "Next Day" settlement and extended trading hours.
USET©
USET is a computerized short-term equity trading system, which utilizes technical trading indicators, graph recognition and mathematical modeling. The unique algorithm provides highly efficient and unprecedented short-term trend predictions for the underlying securities. Those predictions/projections are utilized for the selection of options (puts or calls) as well as stocks to be purchased. The USET system of trading is based on the fact that most securities are sold within the first week, and the remaining, small portion of securities are sold during the second week, thus enabling very high turnover of trading pool assets. USET is a computerized, real time system, which continuously scans and evaluates the entire set of underlying securities and presents the best ranking selection for potential candidates in the stocks and options Products, cont'd market for purchase or sale. This selection is based on standard technical indicators as well as a number of new proprietary ones created by EXCIS analysts. The computerized analysis of the selected securities is performed using historical and real-time data and mathematical models to determine the final list and the best execution price. USET was developed to run on a PC, utilizing the Windows environment and comprehensive information feeds from all exchanges around the world.
